Desktop Computer Hardware Faults

If you own a desk­top com­puter and it is out of its war­ranty period, it is likely that it has faults with var­i­ous hard­ware. If it cur­rently does not have any faults it is likely that it will even­tu­ally develop faults with var­i­ous hard­ware parts. Had­ware faults that are com­mon include

  • The hard­drive disk. You are likely to need to replace your hard­drive in your com­put­ers life time.
  • RAM. Most com­put­ers have mul­ti­ple RAM sticks. If one stick goes faulty it can pre­vent your com­puter from working.

It is unlikely that your moth­er­board will sim­ply break. If it does though there is a chance that a replace­ment will not be pos­si­ble depend­ing on the age of your com­puter. Hard­ware faults in moth­er­boards are often caused by sta­tic or from long term dust expo­sure. If we can replace a moth­er­board, we will. It is also unlikely that your CPU will break. You should how­ever have the paste that is on your CPU replaced every other year to pre­vent overheating.

We can replace hard­ware faults in under 30 min­utes in most cases. Pre­ven­tive steps such as clean­ing the parts and replac­ing the paste can also be com­pleted in under 30 min­utes. If we do not have the hard­ware onsite we may need to take the com­puter back to the workshop.

We will always con­sult the cus­tomer before pro­ceed­ing with repair­ing any hard­ware faults on their computer.

Desktop Computer Upgrades

PC Mon­ster offers a wide vari­ety of desk­top com­puter upgrades. If your com­puter is out­dated, slow or even new and you sim­ply want to upgrade one or more com­po­nents then we can help. We pro­vide a vari­ety of com­mon upgrade solu­tions at the cost of the hard­ware plus the time it takes us to com­plete the ask. In most cases we can com­plete the upgrade in under thirty min­utes cost­ing you only 12.45.

Some of the upgrades we pro­vide are listed below with addi­tional details besides each. Note that you can pur­chase mul­ti­ple of the same item for your com­puter (usu­ally up to four as a guideline)

These parts will be com­pat­i­ble with your exist­ing computer.

  • Hard­drive com­puter upgrade (Increases the files you can store. We offer from 100gb to 3000gb per harddrive)
  • RAM (ran­dom access mem­ory. This can increase the speed that your com­puter oper­ates. From 500mb to 4gb)
  • Video Card (depend­ing on your gam­ing and graphic demands, prices will vary)

There are also other upgrades that we can com­plete on your desk­top com­puter that may require the replace­ment of mul­ti­ple parts.

  • Moth­er­board upgrade (will allow you to use faster parts such as RAM and the lat­est USB and SATA)
  • CPU upgrade (the CPU on your com­puter is the pri­mary speed fac­tor. installing a new cpu may require a new motherboard)

PC Mon­ster can also install upgrade a vari­ety of other hard­ware such as

  • New dvd drive with reader only or burner
  • New blu­ray drive
  • Solid State Drive (a much faster alter­na­tive to a hard­drive but with less space)
  • Floppy drive (if the user requires this)
  • Wire­less card installation
  • Addi­tional USB ports

PC Mon­ster offers a wide vari­ety of desk­top com­puter repairs. We repair soft­ware issues and hard­ware issues. If your com­puter is not func­tion­ing prop­erly and it is sim­ply a soft­ware issue we can often fix the prob­lem onsite in under one hour. If your desk­top com­puter has a hard­ware issue we can also fix this in under one hour for our ser­vice charge plus the cost of the hard­ware required. We offer desk­top com­puter repairs for both old and new com­put­ers. If we dont have the part avail­able at the time of fix­ing the desk­top com­puter we will source it and fix the desk­top com­puter as soon as pos­si­ble. If this is the case or the issue is a big­ger issue requir­ing addi­tional tools we may need to take the desk­top com­puter back to our spen­ny­moor work­shop, this is free of charge.
